Deze studie is bedoeld om te begrijpen of het studievaccin (VLA15 genaamd) veilig is bij gezonde kinderen.

We zoeken kinderen die:

  • zijn gezond
  • zijn tussen de 5 en 17 jaar
  • bij wie in het verleden geen enkele vorm van de ziekte van Lyme is vastgesteld
  • in het verleden geen vaccins tegen de ziekte van Lyme hebben gekregen

De ziekte van Lyme komt het vaakst voor bij kinderen van deze leeftijd. Het studievaccin kan mogelijk worden gebruikt om de ziekte van Lyme te helpen voorkomen. Het doel van deze studie is om meer informatie te krijgen over de veiligheid van het studievaccin in deze leeftijdsgroep.

De deelnemers zullen ongeveer 2 jaar aan dit onderzoek deelnemen. Gedurende die tijd krijgen ze VLA15 of placebo (steriele zoutwateroplossing) toegediend via een "injectie" in de arm. We zullen de ervaring van kinderen die VLA15 kregen vergelijken met die van kinderen die de placebo kregen. Deelnemers zullen niet weten of ze VLA15 of placebo krijgen.

Iedereen die deelneemt aan dit onderzoek zal:

  • haal de injecties in een kliniek of in een ziekenhuiskantoor
  • ontvang in totaal 4 schoten
  • ontvang de eerste 3 injecties binnen 6 maanden
  • ontvang de laatste injectie ongeveer 1 jaar daarna
  • moet voor 6 geplande bezoeken naar de proeflocatie komen; 4 hiervan zijn vaccinatiebezoeken en 2 zijn vervolgbezoeken. We nemen gedurende het onderzoek 1 keer per jaar telefonisch contact met u op om uw ervaring te monitoren. U kunt extra bezoeken krijgen als u een ernstige reactie krijgt na een dosis vaccin.

Inclusiecriteria:

  • Gezonde deelnemers bij inschrijving die vastbesloten zijn in aanmerking te komen voor opname in het onderzoek. Deelnemers met reeds bestaande chronische medische aandoeningen waarvan is vastgesteld dat ze stabiel zijn, kunnen worden opgenomen.
  • Deelnemers en/of ouder(s)/voogd van deelnemers die bereid en in staat zijn om te voldoen aan alle geplande bezoeken, studieprocedures en levensstijloverwegingen voor de duur van het onderzoek.

Uitsluitingscriteria:

  • Vrouwelijke deelnemers die zwanger zijn, borstvoeding geven of een positieve urine-zwangerschapstest hebben bij bezoek 1. Seksueel actieve vrouwen en vruchtbare mannen die geen anticonceptie willen gebruiken volgens het protocol.
  • Elke contra-indicatie voor vaccinatie of vaccincomponenten, inclusief eerdere anafylactische reactie op een vaccin of vaccingerelateerde componenten.
  • Elke diagnose van de ziekte van Lyme in de afgelopen 3 maanden.
  • Elke voorgeschiedenis van Lyme-artritis, carditis, neuroborreliose of andere gedissemineerde ziekte van Lyme (LD), ongeacht wanneer de diagnose is gesteld.
  • Bekende tekenbeet in de afgelopen 4 weken.

  • Ontvangst van systemische corticosteroïden gedurende ≥14 dagen binnen 28 dagen vóór toediening van de onderzoeksinterventie. Geïnhaleerde/vernevelde, intra-articulaire, intrabursale of topische corticosteroïden zijn toegestaan.
  • Ontvangst van chronische systemische behandeling met andere bekende immunosuppressieve medicatie, of radiotherapie, binnen 6 maanden vóór toediening van de onderzoeksinterventie.
  • Huidig ​​gebruik van verboden gelijktijdige medicatie(s) of deelnemers die niet bereid/niet in staat zijn om toegestane gelijktijdige medicatie(s) te gebruiken.

An SAE was defined as any untoward medical occurrence that, at any dose, met one or more of the following criteria: resulted in death, was life-threatening, required inpatient hospitalization or prolongation of existing hospitalization, resulted in persistent or significant disability/incapacity, was a congenital anomaly/birth defect, any other important medical event.
