Veiligheid en werkzaamheid van transcraniële fotobiomodulatie (tPBM) voor personen met een autismespectrumstoornis en epileptiforme activiteit
Voor deze studie zal de voorgestelde interventie op niet-invasieve wijze nabij-infrarood (NIR) licht - transcraniële fotobiomodulatie (tPBM) - leveren aan de hersenen van autistische kinderen.
Dit gebeurt twee keer per week, gedurende tien weken.
Het NIR-licht wordt naar specifieke hersengebieden gestuurd door Cognilum, een draagbaar apparaat ontwikkeld door Jelikalite.
Het verwachte resultaat is een verbeterde focus, verbeterd oogcontact, verbeterde spraak, verbeterd gedrag en winst in functionele vaardigheden.
Cognilum kan van invloed zijn op de klinische praktijk van de behandeling van autisme.
Aan het begin, na vijf weken en aan het einde van de studie zal de arts het CARS-2-, SRS-, CGI- en een interview met de zorgverlener voltooien; Daarnaast zullen vragenlijsten worden afgenomen bij zorgverleners tijdens een van de wekelijkse behandelsessies van 1 uur.

Deelname Criteria
Onderzoekers zoeken naar mensen die aan een bepaalde beschrijving voldoen, de zogenaamde geschiktheidscriteria. Enkele voorbeelden van deze criteria zijn iemands algemene gezondheidstoestand of eerdere behandelingen.

Inclusiecriteria:
- Autismespectrumstoornis (gediagnosticeerd als autistische stoornis op de ADOS-2 of de ADI-R).
- Tussen 4 en 12 jaar oud, bij aanvang.
- Ernst van autisme matig of hoger (≥4) volgens de klinische globale indruk-ernstschaal met 7 items. Een matig niveau van ernst van autisme (4) wordt gedefinieerd door de diagnose ASS met taalstoornis.
- Vermogen om alle lopende aanvullende, dieet-, traditionele en gedragsmatige behandelingen gedurende de onderzoeksperiode constant te houden.
- Ongewijzigde aanvullende, dieet-, traditionele en gedragsmatige behandelingen gedurende twee maanden voorafgaand aan deelname aan de studie
- Vermogen om procedures te tolereren, zoals bepaald naar goeddunken van de onderzoeker.
- Ten minste één 24-uurs EEG met gegevens in EDF-formaat die toegankelijk zijn voor onderzoekers.
Uitsluitingscriteria:
- Aanzienlijk zelfbeledigend of gewelddadig gedrag of tekenen van zelfmoordgedachten, -plannen of -gedrag
- Ernstig getroffen kinderen zoals gedefinieerd door CGI-Severity Standard Score = 7 (extreem ziek)
- Ernstige vroeggeboorte (<34 weken zwangerschap), zoals bepaald door de medische geschiedenis
- De huidige ongecontroleerde gastro-oesofageale refluxziekte, aangezien GORZ bewegingen kan veroorzaken die op epileptische aanvallen lijken
- Genetische syndromen
- Aangeboren hersenmisvormingen
- Elke medische aandoening die de PI vaststelt, kan de veiligheid van de proefpersoon in gevaar brengen of de integriteit van de gegevens in gevaar brengen.
- Groeiachterstand of Body Mass Index < 5% of < 5% voor gewicht (man <11,2 kg; vrouwtje <10,8 kg volgens CDC 2000-groeigrafieken) ten tijde van het onderzoek.
Gelijktijdige behandeling met een geneesmiddel dat een significante interactie zou hebben met de behandeling.
