Onderzoek met dubbele focus, met de nadruk op verwarmde bevochtigingssystemen
Onder normale omstandigheden spelen de bovenste luchtwegen en de luchtwegen een cruciale rol bij het bevochtigen en verwarmen van de ingeademde lucht, een proces dat bekend staat als ingeademde gasconditionering. Dit proces is essentieel voor effectieve gasconditionering en het beperken van het potentiële risico op beschadiging van de structuur en functie van het ademhalingsepitheel. Luchtweginstrumentatie, zoals het gebruik van een orotracheale tube of tracheostomiecanule, interfereert met de fysiologische conditionering van ingeademd gas. Bovendien verergert de toediening van koude, droge medische gassen, samen met de hoge stromen die patiënten ervaren onder invasieve mechanische ventilatie (IVM) of niet-invasieve mechanische ventilatie (NIMV), deze ongunstige toestand. Daarom wordt de integratie van een extern apparaat om het geleverde gas te conditioneren absoluut noodzakelijk, zelfs bij kortetermijninterventies.
Er zijn verschillende apparaten om het ingeademde gas te conditioneren, in principe passieve bevochtigingssystemen (HMEF) en actieve (of verwarmde) systemen. Gezien het bevochtigingsvermogen en de voor- en nadelen zijn zowel passieve als actieve systemen geschikt voor het conditioneren van het ingeademde gas.
De hypothese van dit onderzoek is dat gezondheidsteams in Latijns-Amerika beperkte kennis hebben over bevochtigingssystemen, zowel vanuit de technische aspecten van de implementatie als vanuit de kliniek.
DOELSTELLINGEN
Primair doel:
Ontwikkel een instrument om de kennis over bevochtigingssystemen onder verschillende gezondheidsprofessionals op de intensive care (ICU) te evalueren.
Beschrijf de kennis over bevochtigingssystemen bij verschillende zorgverleners op de intensive care-afdelingen (ICU).
Secundair doel:
Vergelijk kennis over bevochtigingssystemen tussen verschillende landen. Vergelijk kennis over bevochtigingssystemen tussen verschillende specialismen. Vergelijk kennis over bevochtigingssystemen in verschillende leeftijdsgroepen.

- Arts, verpleegkundige, ademtherapeut of aanverwante titels
- Meer dan 2 jaar werkervaring op een intensive care-afdeling voor volwassenen (werk op de intensive care wordt beschouwd als werk dat ten minste 12 uur per week op de intensive care-afdeling wordt uitgevoerd)
