Gedetailleerde beschrijving
Deelnemers voltooien een online gerandomiseerd experiment tussen proefpersonen. Het experiment omvat drie studiebezoeken.
Tijdens het eerste studiebezoek voltooien de deelnemers zonder tussenkomst een online boodschappentaak in de supermarkt. Deelnemers krijgen een budget van $ 50 en worden gevraagd om te winkelen zoals ze normaal zouden doen. De winkel registreert de selecties van de deelnemers. Na het voltooien van de winkeltaak vullen de deelnemers een online enquête in.
Ongeveer een week later zullen de deelnemers een tweede studiebezoek afleggen met dezelfde instructies. Ze worden gerandomiseerd naar 1 van de 4 condities (1) alleen gezondheid, 2) alleen milieu, 3) gecombineerde gezondheid en milieu, 4) controle. In de conditie 'Alleen gezondheid' zien deelnemers labels met gezondheidscijfers en kunnen ze de opdracht krijgen om hun selectie te ruilen voor gezondere items. In de voorwaarde 'alleen milieu' kunnen deelnemers labels met klimaatimpactcijfers bekijken en kunnen ze de opdracht krijgen om hun selectie in te ruilen voor duurzamere items. In de gezondheids- en milieuconditie zien deelnemers labels met gezondheids- en klimaatimpactcijfers en kunnen ze de opdracht krijgen om hun selectie te ruilen voor gezondere of duurzamere items. In de controlegroep zien deelnemers geen labels of swaps. De winkel registreert de selecties van de deelnemers. Na het voltooien van de winkeltaak vullen de deelnemers een online enquête in.
Bij het derde studiebezoek behouden de deelnemers hun toegewezen groep en wordt hen gevraagd dezelfde taken te herhalen als bij het tweede bezoek.

Experimenteel: Health Swaps
Labels zijn "voedingscijfers" voor producten en vervangende swapsuggesties zullen zijn voor items met een betere voedingskwaliteit.
|
Deelnemers zien op alle producten in de online supermarkt 'gezondheidslabels' die hun gezondheid aangeven, zoals geschat op basis van de Ofcom Nutrient Profiling Model-scores in het Verenigd Koninkrijk.
De gezondheidsscorelabels zullen de Nutri-Score-labels nabootsen, een etiketteringssysteem dat in sommige Europese landen wordt gebruikt en op elk product een kleurgecodeerde graad van "A" (groen) tot en met "F" (rood) toont.
Producten met "A"- en "B"-labels zullen voldoen aan de Britse grenswaarde voor producten die aan kinderen op de markt kunnen worden gebracht, en producten met "C", "D"- en "F"-labels zijn minder gezond dan deze grenswaarde (gebaseerd op tertielen van Ofcom scores binnen elke voedselgroep).
Wanneer deelnemers een minder gezond product aan hun winkelwagentje proberen toe te voegen (bijvoorbeeld het gezondheidslabel 'C', 'D' of 'F'), zal de winkel automatisch een gezonder product uit dezelfde categorie voorstellen (bijvoorbeeld met een 'A'). of gezondheidslabel "B").

Experimenteel: Klimaatwaps
Labels zijn "klimaatcijfers" voor producten en vervangende swapsuggesties zijn voor items met een beter klimaatkwaliteit.
|
Deelnemers zullen "klimaatkwaliteit" -labels bekijken op alle producten die hun klimaatimpact aangeven.
De klimaatimpact wordt berekend als de uitstoot van broeikasgassen geassocieerd met het produceren van het product in koolstofdioxide-equivalenten (CO2-EQ) per 100 g (d.w.z. "koolstofvoetafdruk").
Labels worden toegepast op basis van kwintielen van koolstofvoetafdrukken in elke voedselgroep.
Wanneer deelnemers proberen een hoog-klimaat-impactproduct aan hun kar toe te voegen (bijv. Met een "C", "D," of "F" klimaatlabel), biedt de winkel hen automatisch swaps aan meer klimaatvriendelijke producten (bijv. Met een "A" of "B" klimaatlabel).

Experimenteel: Gecombineerde gezondheids- en klimaatwaps
Labels zijn "voedingscijfers" en "klimaatcijfers" voor producten en vervangende swapsuggesties zullen zijn voor items die beter zijn dan oorspronkelijk geselecteerde producten op ten minste één dimensie (voedingskwaliteit of klimaatkwaliteit) en niet slechter dan oorspronkelijk geselecteerde producten op beide dimensie.

Deelnemers zullen zowel de gezondheids- als klimaatkwaliteit -labels bekijken op alle producten in de online supermarkt.
Wanneer deelnemers proberen een product te selecteren met een "C", "D", of "F" -label in beide dimensie naar hun winkelwagen, biedt de winkel hen automatisch swaps aan producten die verbetering bieden ten opzichte van het originele voedsel op ten minste 1 dimensie (gezondheid of klimaatvriendelijkheid) en waren minstens goed of beter op de andere dimensie, met de aanvullende bewakers die nooit producten voorstelt, "of" label op "label" Label op "label op" D "label op de andere dimensie.

The study will asses healthfulness of participants' selections as the average Ofcom Nutrient Profiling Model score of the products the participants select in the shopping task.
The score ranges from 0 to 100, where higher scores are healthier.
