TBI 幸存者有一段时间完全失去知觉或昏迷,对自己或周围环境没有任何意识,接受多模式或单模式感觉刺激。处于昏迷状态的人没有意识和反应,但没有睡着,因为没有睡眠-觉醒周期。
处于昏迷状态时,人们无法说话、听从命令或睁开眼睛。
昏迷者可能对触摸或疼痛有简单的反射反应,但基本上对外部刺激没有有意义的反应。
即使在强烈的外部刺激条件下,也缺乏对自我和环境的意识。
昏迷可持续数小时至数天,具体取决于脑损伤的严重程度,有时一个人可能会保持昏迷状态数月甚至数年。
