ARRIÈRE-PLAN:
L'étude des méthodes de minimisation de la masse du myocarde ischémique associé à un infarctus du myocarde a été identifiée comme un sujet de recherche prioritaire dans le rapport de 1973 du président du comité pour la préparation du programme national du cœur, des vaisseaux sanguins, des poumons et du sang. En septembre 1976, l'Institut a convoqué un atelier réunissant 32 chercheurs actifs dans ce domaine, des répondants à des sollicitations antérieures, des experts sur le sujet des essais cliniques collaboratifs, des membres de comités d'examen antérieurs et plusieurs membres du comité consultatif de cardiologie. Les participants ont été enthousiasmés par le caractère pratique et l'opportunité d'un essai clinique collaboratif dans ce domaine. Le concept d'essais cliniques collaboratifs pour protéger le myocarde ischémique a été discuté par le Comité consultatif de cardiologie lors de sa réunion du 22 septembre 1976 et a été recommandé affirmativement et avec enthousiasme. Cet essai faisait partie des initiatives de l'Institut et a été examiné et recommandé favorablement par le Conseil consultatif national du cœur, des poumons et du sang lors de sa réunion de décembre 1976. L'essai comprenait cinq centres cliniques, six laboratoires centraux, un centre de coordination clinique et un centre de coordination des données.
NARRATIF DE CONCEPTION :
Randomisé. Les patients du groupe A ont été randomisés pour recevoir un traitement au propranolol, un traitement à l'hyaluronidase ou un traitement témoin ; les patients affectés au groupe B (propranolol contre-indiqué) ont été affectés à la hyaluronidase ou à un traitement de contrôle. Simple aveugle pour la thérapie au propranolol, double aveugle pour la hyaluronidase ou la thérapie de contrôle ; échantillon fixe. Suivi détaillé de l'état clinique et des paramètres pendant une période de six mois ; suivi annuel de l'état de santé par la suite.
La date d'achèvement de l'étude indiquée dans ce dossier a été obtenue à partir de la « date de fin » saisie dans le rapport de vue de requête (QVR).
