バックグラウンド:
身体活動と健康に関する公衆衛生総監の報告書 (USDHHS、1996 年) は、定期的な身体活動には、心臓病のリスクを軽減し、高血圧、高コレステロール、糖尿病の治療と予防に役立つなど、重要な健康上の利点があることを強調しています。骨粗しょう症や大腸がんの予防に。 さらに、身体活動は体重をコントロールし、抑うつや不安を軽減し、精神的な健康を促進します。 不活動は年齢とともに増加し、男性よりも女性に多く、収入が低く教育を受けていない人々やマイノリティの人々によく見られます (USDHHS, 1996)。 思春期の若者は大人よりも活動的ですが、多くの人は推奨されるレベルの身体活動に従事しておらず、特に少女では、思春期を通じて年齢とともに参加が減少します (USDHHS, 1996; CDC, 1997)。 10 代の少女の 14% が定期的な運動をしていませんが、これは少年の 2 倍です。 定期的に活発な身体活動に参加する思春期の少女の割合は、高校に入学するごとに劇的に減少し、9 年生の 61% から 12 年生の少女の 41% に減少します。 高校では、毎日の体育のクラスへの女子の就学率は、1991 年の 41% から 1995 年には 25% に低下しました。 CDC の報告書 (1997 年) と公衆衛生局長官の報告書 (USDHHS、1996 年) の両方が、思春期の少女の身体活動を増やすための地域機関プログラムに関連した学校ベースの身体活動介入の調整の有効性をテストする研究の必要性を推奨しています。

デザインの物語:

実験的:学校ベースの介入
TAAG の健康教育には、身体活動に影響を与えることが知られている行動スキルを強化するように設計された、7 年生と 8 年生のそれぞれに 6 つのレッスンが含まれていました。
TAAG の体育クラスでは、授業時間の少なくとも 50% で中程度から激しい身体活動を促進し、教師に授業外での身体活動を促進するよう奨励しました。
コミュニティ パートナーと協力して、学校外で推進されたプログラムには、ダンス ダンス レボリューション、放課後のステップ エアロビクス クラス、放課前のオープン ジム、バスケットボール キャンプ、タッチ フットボール、週末のカヌー プログラムなどがあります。
TAAG のプロモーションでは、ソーシャル マーケティング アプローチを使用して、メディアやプロモーション イベントを通じて活動への認知と参加を促進しました。

介入活動は、(1) 身体活動を支援する環境および組織の変化、および (2) より積極的になるための手がかり、メッセージ、およびインセンティブを作成するように設計されました。
この介入は、より多くの機会を確立し、社会的支援と規範を改善し、自己効力感、結果への期待、および行動スキルを高めて、中程度から活発な身体活動 (MVPA) を促進するように設計されました。
TAAG の革新的な特徴は、学校と地域の機関を結び付けて、女の子のための活動プログラムを促進することでした。
最後に、2 年間のスタッフ主導の介入の後、持続可能性を促進するために TAAG プログラム チャンピオン コンポーネントが開発されました。
