Inklusjonskriterier:

  • Diagnostisert med stadium II/III karsinom i spiserøret eller gastroøsofageal overgang
  • Fullført preoperativ cellegiftstrålebehandling etterfulgt av operasjon
  • Diagnostisert med gjenværende patologisk sykdom etter å ha blitt kirurgisk frigjort for sykdom med negative marginer etter fullstendig reseksjon

Ekskluderingskriterier:

  • Diagnostisert med cervical esophageal carcinoma
  • Diagnostisert med Stage IV resektabel sykdom
  • Fikk ikke samtidig kjemoradioterapi før operasjonen
  • Deltakere som har fått en levende/svekket vaksine innen 30 dager etter første behandling

Sykdomsfri overlevelse er definert som tiden mellom randomiseringsdato og første dato for tilbakefall eller død, avhengig av hva som inntreffer først.

Residiv er definert som utseendet til en eller flere nye lesjoner, som kan være lokale, regionale eller fjernt fra det primære reseksjonsstedet (vurdert ved bildediagnostikk eller patologi).
