Inclusiecriteria:

  • Gediagnosticeerd met stadium II/III carcinoom van de slokdarm of gastro-oesofageale overgang
  • Voltooide pre-operatieve chemoradiotherapie gevolgd door een operatie
  • Gediagnosticeerd met residuele pathologische ziekte na chirurgisch ziektevrij te zijn gemaakt met negatieve marges na volledige resectie

Uitsluitingscriteria:

  • Gediagnosticeerd met cervicaal slokdarmcarcinoom
  • Gediagnosticeerd met stadium IV resectabele ziekte
  • Kreeg voorafgaand aan de operatie geen gelijktijdige chemoradiotherapie
  • Deelnemers die binnen 30 dagen na de eerste behandeling een levend/verzwakt vaccin hebben gekregen

Tijdsspanne: Van randomisatie tot de datum van recidief of overlijden (tot ongeveer 46 maanden)

Ziektevrije overleving wordt gedefinieerd als de tijd tussen de randomisatiedatum en de eerste datum van recidief of overlijden, afhankelijk van wat zich het eerst voordoet.

Herhaling wordt gedefinieerd als het verschijnen van een of meer nieuwe laesies, die plaatselijk, regionaal of op afstand van de primaire plaats van resectie kunnen zijn (beoordeeld door middel van beeldvorming of pathologie). Alle sterfgevallen zonder voorafgaand recidief worden beschouwd als DFS-gebeurtenissen. Voor deelnemers die in leven bleven en zonder recidief, werd DFS gecensureerd op de datum van de laatste evalueerbare ziektebeoordeling
