Baggrund: Nylige undersøgelser har vist, at der i både udviklede lande og udviklingslande stadig er et betydeligt antal gravide kvinder med jodmangelstatus. Vores overordnede mål er at overvåge jodstatus hos gravide kvinder i Kina og at undersøge sammenhængen mellem moderens urinjodkoncentration (UIC) og nyfødtes fysiske udviklingsniveau.
Design: prospektivt kohortestudie
Metoder: I løbet af august - december 2015 blev 250 deltagere (28-32 ugers svangerskab) udvalgt til at deltage i undersøgelsen. Forskerne indsamler pleturinprøverne (n=750) en gang hver anden uge.
Indstilling: Xinhua Hospital tilknyttet Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine.
Deltagere: 150 normale gravide kvinder og 100 gravide kvinder med svangerskabsdiabetes (28-32 ugers graviditet) og deres nyfødte blev udvalgt til at deltage i undersøgelsen.

Ekskluderingskriterier:
- en kendt historie med skjoldbruskkirtelsygdom i ikke-gravid tilstand og tidligere.
