Varios estudios previos han demostrado que los factores contextuales clínicos, como las preferencias de los pacientes, juegan un papel importante en la relación físico-paciente, con las consiguientes consecuencias en los resultados clínicos.
La interacción entre el género del paciente y del médico a menudo se ve afectada por los estereotipos existentes.
La preferencia de los pacientes por un género médico específico se ha investigado en la literatura científica.
Sin embargo, no existen estudios que analicen el papel del género en la medicina osteopática.
