참가자는 건강 및 흡연 기록에 관한 설문지를 작성합니다.
조사관은 무연 담배에 존재하는 독소 및 유해 화학 물질에 대한 노출을 측정하기 위해 혈액 샘플, 타액 샘플, 뺨 세포 및 소변을 채취할 것입니다.
참가자에게는 무연 담배 연구 제품이 제공되며 연구에 참여하는 전체 시간 동안만 사용하도록 요청받습니다.
연구 제품은 중수소화된 NNN을 포함합니다.
중수소화 NNN은 시중에서 판매되는 무연 담배 제품에서 발견되는 NNN과 같지만 중수소 또는 중수소 원자로 표시되어 있습니다.
중수소는 무독성이며 안전합니다.
중수소가 포함된 무연 담배를 사용하면 체내에서 분해되는 NNN을 추적할 수 있습니다.

상세 설명
50명의 건강한 무연 담배 사용자가 미니애폴리스-세인트에서 광고를 통해 모집됩니다. 폴 지역. 이 연구는 미네소타 대학의 담배 연구 센터에서 수행됩니다. 정기적인 무연 담배 사용자는 전화로 검사를 받게 됩니다. 전화 화면 후 자격이 있는 경우 참가자는 클리닉의 오리엔테이션 방문에 초대되어 동의를 얻고 피험자는 담배 사용 및 병력에 대한 양식을 작성합니다. 오리엔테이션 방문 후 자격이 있는 것으로 결정된 피험자는 기본 방문을 위해 클리닉으로 돌아가 무연 담배 제품을 받고 7일 후 첫 번째 실험실 세션에 돌아올 때까지 연구 제품만 사용하도록 지시받습니다.
3개의 실험실 세션 각각에 앞서 피험자는 예정된 약속까지 24시간 동안 모든 소변을 수집합니다. 각 실험실 세션에서 참가자는 연구 제품을 사용하고 정기적으로 타액과 담배 주스를 수집합니다. 참가자는 또한 뺨 안쪽에서 세포를 면봉으로 채취하고 혈액을 채취합니다.
수집된 샘플은 NNN의 대사 활성화 및 DNA 결합을 특성화하는 데 사용됩니다.

- 안정적이고 좋은 정신 건강, 즉 현재 지난 6개월 동안 DSM-IV 기준에 의해 결정된 약물 남용을 포함하여 불안정하거나 치료되지 않은 정신과 진단을 경험하지 않았습니다.
- 채혈, 타액채취, 소변채취, 다수의 진료소 방문 등 연구활동을 수행하고자 하는 자
- 임신 또는 수유 중인 것으로 알려지지 않았거나 향후 12개월 이내에 임신할 계획이 있는 가임 여성 대상자
