Effecten van transcutane elektrische zenuwstimulatie (TENS) op postoperatieve pijn en functie na arthroscopische kniechirurgie: een prospectieve gerandomiseerde pilotstudie voor klinische proeven
Volgens de zorgstandaardprocedures voor artroscopie-kniechirurgie wordt verwacht dat transcutane elektrische zenuwstimulatie (TENS) verbeterde pijnverlichting en functionele resultaten zal bieden.

Inclusiecriteria:
- Leeftijd 18-60
- BMI
- Geen significante gewrichtsafwijkingen
- Geen significante ligamentaire instabiliteit
- Geen significante radiografische vernauwing van de gewrichtsruimte
- Geen eerdere significante knieoperatie
- Eenzijdige knieoperatie
- Geen werkmansvergoeding
- Geplande artroscopie van de knie voor meniscectomie, chondroplastiek of synovectomie
Uitsluitingscriteria:
- Leeftijd 60
- BMI > 50
- Aanzienlijke gewrichtsafwijkingen
- Aanzienlijke ligamentaire instabiliteit
- Aanzienlijke radiografische vernauwing van de gewrichtsruimte
- Eerdere ingrijpende knieoperatie
- Bilaterale knieoperatie gepland
- Werkvergoeding
- Geen geplande artroscopie van de knie voor menisectomie, chondroplastiek of synovectomie

Actieve vergelijker: Gestructureerde TENS-therapie
Deze groep krijgt een actieve TENS-eenheid om te gebruiken.

De TENS-behandeling zal gestandaardiseerd zijn en zal bestaan uit sessies van 20 minuten, drie keer per dag met de door de fabrikant aanbevolen instellingen voor zowel functionele als uitgeschakelde TENS-apparaten.

Sham-vergelijker: Sham TENS-therapie
Deze groep krijgt een placebo-TENS-eenheid die functioneel is uitgeschakeld om een korte eerste elektrische impuls te geven en vervolgens stopt met het afgeven van die impuls.

De TENS-behandeling zal gestandaardiseerd zijn en zal bestaan uit sessies van 20 minuten, drie keer per dag met de door de fabrikant aanbevolen instellingen voor zowel functionele als uitgeschakelde TENS-apparaten.

Patiëntperceptie van pijn in de vroege postoperatieve periode tijdens gebruik van gestructureerde TENS-therapie.
Tijdsspanne: Twee weken postoperatief.

De patiënt-deelnemer registreert elke dag de pijnniveaus gedurende de onmiddellijke periode van 2 weken na de operatie.
Dag 0 is het pijnniveau voor de operatie.
Pijnperceptie gemeten op een schaal van 0-10 waarbij 0 staat voor geen of het laagste pijnniveau en 10 voor het hoogste pijnniveau
