Evaluatie van een sociale netwerkinterventie om aan kanker gerelateerde problemen te verminderen

Er wordt verondersteld dat de behandelingsgroep grotere verbeteringen in kwaliteit van leven en stemmingsstoornissen zal laten zien in vergelijking met de controlegroep en dat meer betrokkenheid bij de interventiematerialen zal worden geassocieerd met grotere verbeteringen in stemming en kwaliteit van leven.

Personen met kanker hebben te maken met een scala aan psychosociale behoeften, en naar schatting ervaart tot 35% van de overlevenden van kanker klinisch significante niveaus van angst.
Psychosociale interventies kunnen effectief zijn voor het verbeteren van de kwaliteit van leven en het verminderen van stemmingsstoornissen bij deze patiënten.
Helaas zijn er vaak belemmeringen voor toegang tot psychosociale interventie, en velen hebben geen toegang tot die diensten.
Op internet gebaseerde psychosociale interventies verbeteren de toegankelijkheid van zorg en bieden extra methodologische voordelen, waaronder de mogelijkheid om eenvoudig zelfrapportagegegevens te verzamelen, de blootstelling aan de interventie te volgen en de effecten van specifieke interventiecomponenten te evalueren.
De voorgestelde studie zal evalueren of een website die speciaal is ontwikkeld voor het bieden van psychologische behandeling en het verbeteren van de communicatie tussen overlevenden van kanker, het leed kan verbeteren onder overlevenden van kanker die aangeven dat ze veel leed hebben.
Als het succesvol is, zal het onderzoek ook waardevolle informatie opleveren die nodig is om de behandeling te verbeteren en om een groter onderzoek op adequate wijze uit te voeren waarbij op internet gebaseerde en face-to-face behandelingen worden vergeleken.

- ten minste 18 jaar oud,
- eerdere diagnose van kanker anders dan niet-melanome huidkanker,
4) spreekt vloeiend Engels, 5) routinematige toegang tot internet, en 6) aanwezigheid van meer dan licht ongerief zoals geïdentificeerd door een ongerief groter dan of gelijk aan 4 bij de eerste screening met de Distress Thermometer

Actieve vergelijker: Interventie via sociale netwerken
Individuen die geïnteresseerd zijn in deelname aan de studie zullen worden gerandomiseerd om toegang te krijgen tot een 12 weken durende op internet gebaseerde behandelingsgroep.
Onderwerpen die aan de behandelgroep zijn toegewezen, hebben toegang tot een groepsdiscussiebord, een gestructureerde 12 weken durende training in copingvaardigheden, professionele begeleiding van de groep, een real-time chatbord en persoonlijke profielen opgesteld door andere groepsleden.
Proefpersonen zullen worden gevraagd om online zelfrapportagemetingen van angst, stemmingsstoornis en kwaliteit van leven in te vullen bij baseline en opnieuw na deelname aan de groep van 12 weken.

Controlepersonen op de wachtlijst van 12 weken kunnen lid worden van een groep nadat ze de beoordeling van 12 weken hebben voltooid en zullen worden gevraagd om een beoordeling van 24 weken af te ronden om de verandering in de loop van de tijd te meten.
Onderwerpen krijgen toegang tot een groepsdiscussiebord, een gestructureerde 12-weekse training in copingvaardigheden, professionele begeleiding van de groep, een real-time chatbord en persoonlijke profielen opgesteld door andere groepsleden.

Verandering in algemeen psychisch functioneren (OQ-45)

De OQ-45 meet het globale functioneren van een cliënt en is samengesteld uit 3 subschalen die subjectief ongemak (intrapsychisch functioneren), interpersoonlijke relaties en sociale rolprestaties meten.
De OQ-45 heeft voldoende interne consistentie (a = .93)
en betrouwbaarheid (r = .84)
(Lambert et al., 2004).

Verandering in het centrum voor epidemiologische studies Depressieschaal (CES-D).

De CES-D is een zelfrapportagemaatstaf die bestaat uit 20 items die worden beoordeeld op een 4-punts Likert-schaal om depressieve symptomen te beoordelen die in de voorgaande week zijn ervaren.
De CES-D heeft een uitstekende betrouwbaarheid en validiteit aangetoond (Radloff, 1977).
De standaard afkapscore van 16 wordt gebruikt om depressie te identificeren.
