Biomarkers in reuzencellige arteritis (BioACG)
Reuzencelarteritis of de ziekte van Horton is een vasculitis die grote bloedvaten aantast. Dit is de meest voorkomende vasculitis bij de bevolking ouder dan 50 jaar. Deze vasculitis ligt aan de oorsprong van een inflammatoir infiltraat van arteriële tunieken, dat hoofdzakelijk uit lymfocyten bestaat. Klinische symptomen zijn een verslechtering van de algemene toestand, ongewone cephalgieën, kaakpijn, hyperesthesie van de hoofdhuid, maar kunnen ook ernstige ischemische complicaties zijn, vooral oogheelkundig met de mogelijkheid om blind te worden. Tot nu toe is de standaardbehandeling een therapie met hoge doseringen corticosteroïden.
De diagnose is gebaseerd op criteria van het American College of Rheumatology, die teruggaan tot 1990. Het terugvalpercentage is belangrijk, variërend van 10 tot 64% volgens studies. Er zijn ook problemen om afhankelijk te worden van steroïden.
Het is dus belangrijk om nieuwe diagnosemarkers en een therapeutisch gevolg van reuzencelarteritis te bepalen.
Met deze studie zullen verschillende biomarkers van ontsteking worden bestudeerd om te bepalen of een of meerdere van hen een goede gevoeligheid en speciale eigenschap hebben voor de diagnose en het volgen van reuscellige arteritis.
Het hoofddoel is het bepalen van een nieuwe diagnosemarker voor reuzencellige arteritis.

Beschrijving
Inclusiecriteria:
- Patiënt die lijdt aan reuzencelarteritis.
- Opname tijdens ontdekking van symptomen, of tijdens terugval.
Uitsluitingscriteria:
- Gezonde vrijwilliger
- Behandeling met corticosteroïden sinds meer dan 8 dagen voor een patiënt die lijdt aan reuzencelarteritis, behalve voor patiënten die corticosteroïden gebruiken voor polymyalgia reumatica.
- Andere ziekten dan reuzencellige arteritis die een ontstekingssymptoom kunnen introduceren, met name een tumorproces dat aan de gang is of een chronische ontstekingsziekte (een andere dan reuzencellige arteritis)
