Descrizione
Criteri di inclusione:
- Sesso maschile ed età compresa tra 18 e 30 anni
- Nessuna storia di consumo di caffeina o assunzione abituale molto bassa (<50 mg/giorno)
- Nessuna partecipazione a un programma regolare di allenamento di resistenza negli ultimi 6 mesi
- Indice di massa corporea (BMI) compreso tra 18,5 e 30 kg/m²
- Disponibilità a partecipare regolarmente a tutte le sessioni di allenamento e test
- Fornitura del consenso informato scritto dopo essere stati completamente informati sullo studio
Criteri di esclusione:
- Presenza di malattie cardiovascolari, metaboliche, renali, epatiche o altre malattie croniche gravi
- Disturbi psichiatrici diagnosticati o grave intolleranza/allergia alla caffeina
- Uso di farmaci che influenzano il metabolismo della caffeina o l'anabolismo muscolare (ad esempio, beta-bloccanti, antidepressivi, steroidi anabolizzanti)
- Lesioni muscoloscheletriche che impediscono un allenamento di resistenza sicuro
- Fumo o consumo di alcol a livelli che potrebbero influenzare i risultati dello studio
- Partecipazione contemporanea a un altro studio di intervento sull'esercizio fisico
- Incapacità di tollerare le procedure di scansione DXA, prelievo di sangue o ingestione di D2O

Sperimentale: Strategy 1: Constant Daily Dose
Participants receive caffeine at a constant daily dose of 4 mg/kg/day for 10 weeks.
Supervised resistance training is performed 3 times per week for 10 weeks.

Oral caffeine capsule at 4 mg/kg body weight, consumed daily approximately 60 minutes before training sessions (on training days) or at the same time of day (on rest days).
|

Sperimentale: Strategy 2: Escalating Dose
Participants receive caffeine at a gradually escalating dose, starting at 2 mg/kg/day in week 1 and increasing to 6 mg/kg/day by week 10 (1 mg/kg every 2 weeks).
Supervised resistance training is performed 3 times per week for 10 weeks.

• Oral caffeine starting at 2 mg/kg/day and increasing incrementally to reach 6 mg/kg/day by week 10.

Sperimentale: Strategy 3: Training Days Only
Participants receive caffeine at 4 mg/kg only on training days (3 times per week) for 10 weeks.
Supervised resistance training is performed 3 times per week for 10 weeks.

Oral caffeine capsule at 4 mg/kg body weight, consumed only on training days approximately 60 minutes before exercise.

Comparatore placebo: Placebo
Participants receive 250 mg/day cellulose for 10 weeks.
