Een prospectieve cohortstudie onder de algemene bevolking. Drie studiegolven
Steekproef:
Golf 1: Een nationaal representatieve steekproef van niet-geïnstitutionaliseerde volwassenen van 18 jaar of ouder uit de Spaanse bevolking werd verzameld (met een oversteekproef van mensen van 50+ jaar). Er werd gebruik gemaakt van een meertraps geclusterd ontwerp; voor elk van de 17 Spaanse autonome gemeenschappen werden vier lagen gebouwd op basis van het aantal inwoners van de gemeenten. Clusters werden geselecteerd binnen de strata met een waarschijnlijkheid van opname in verhouding tot hun grootte. Binnen elk cluster zijn willekeurig huishoudens geselecteerd uit een lijst met alle huishoudens. Als er meer dan één persoon uit de overeenkomstige leeftijdsgroep in het huishouden was, werd een willekeurige methode gebruikt om de individuele deelnemer te selecteren. In totaal zijn 4.753 respondenten geïnterviewd en de schriftelijke toestemming ondertekend.
Wave 2: Wave 1-sample werd opnieuw geïnterviewd (Wave 2) in 2014-2015. De gemiddelde follow-upperiode was 3,5 jaar (SD = 0,18). In totaal werden 2.528 personen opnieuw geïnterviewd. Het responspercentage in de tweede golf was 69,5%. Dit cohort wordt na 3,5 jaar opnieuw geïnterviewd (Wave 3).
Golf 3: volgens dezelfde methoden als in golf 1 zullen voor het eerst ongeveer 3000 deelnemers uit Madrid en Barcelona worden geïnterviewd.
Gegevensverzameling:
Face-to-face interviews door computerondersteunde persoonlijke interviews bij de respondenten thuis door getrainde interviewers. Alle interviewers krijgen een gestandaardiseerde training. Er wordt ook een datakwaliteitscontrole uitgevoerd.
Hoofddoel:
Om trajecten van algemene gezondheid, invaliditeit en welzijn in de vergrijzende Spaanse bevolking te beoordelen.
Secundaire doelstellingen:
Trajecten van gezond ouder worden identificeren (in termen van psychische gezondheid, geestelijke gezondheid, functioneren en welzijn) bij de Spaanse volwassen bevolking, evenals hun determinanten. Analyseren van de prevalentie en impact van chronische gezondheidsproblemen, psychische problemen, welzijn en eenzaamheid over sterfte onder de Spaanse volwassen bevolking.
Risicofactoren bepalen voor het optreden en voortduren van mentale en fysieke gezondheidsproblemen bij de vergrijzende Spaanse bevolking.
Hypothese:
De trajecten van gezondheid, functioneren en welzijn zullen worden omvat door relevante omgevingsfactoren zoals sociale steun, eenzaamheid en gebruik van gezondheidszorg, persoonlijke factoren (onder andere sociaal-demografische kenmerken, gezonde levensstijlen en hoge cognitieve reserve) en andere biologische en gezondheidsgerelateerde factoren (gewicht, lengte, middelomtrek, executieve functies, bloeddruk, grijpkracht, gezichtsscherpte, aanwezigheid van mentale en fysieke gezondheidsproblemen en kwaliteit van leven).

Cohort 2011
Er werd een landelijk representatieve steekproef van 4753 niet-geïnstitutionaliseerde volwassenen van 18 jaar of ouder uit de Spaanse bevolking verzameld (met een oversteekproef van mensen van 50+ jaar).
Er werd gebruik gemaakt van een meertraps geclusterd ontwerp.
In 2014 zijn in totaal 2528 personen opnieuw geïnterviewd.
In 2018 zijn er opnieuw 1577 beoordeeld.
Ten slotte namen in 2022 963 deelnemers deel aan de evaluatie van een ander onderzoek.

Cohort 2019
Tussen 2019 en 2021 werden 3002 deelnemers uit de regio’s Madrid en Barcelona binnengehaald.
Ze ondergaan nu een tweede evaluatie (2023).
In 2020, tijdens de eerste lockdown van het coronavirus (COVID-19), werden 1166 deelnemers uit de eerste golf van het cohort telefonisch geïnterviewd, een laterale deelstudie-evaluatie.
