Szczegółowy opis
Nadrzędne cele proponowanego projektu są trojakie. CEL 1: Ocena skuteczności klinicznej tVNS w ograniczaniu NSSI i nadużywania alkoholu wśród wrażliwej młodzieży. Stawiamy hipotezę, że samodzielnie podawany tVNS, dostarczany w 25-minutowych sesjach, zmniejszy zgłaszane przez siebie NSSI i spożywanie alkoholu, poprawi zgłaszaną przez nastolatków regulację emocji i przyniesie poprawę we współczulnym i przywspółczulnym układzie nerwowym, markerach regulacji emocji i podatności na NSSI i nadużywanie alkoholu. CEL 2: Ocena przestrzegania zaleceń terapeutycznych w porównaniu z tradycyjnymi interwencjami psychospołecznymi o podobnym czasie trwania. Stawiamy hipotezę, że młodzież wykaże większe przestrzeganie leczenia niż obserwowane w tradycyjnych interwencjach psychospołecznych o podobnym czasie trwania i oceni tVNS jako akceptowalny, dyskretny i sprzyjający leczeniu twarzą w twarz. CEL 3: Ocena wpływu maltretowania na tVNS. Stawiamy hipotezę, że tVNS będzie skuteczny dla osób z historią złego traktowania.
Chociaż rzadko stosowany do tej pory wśród nastolatków, tVNS zmienia reakcje nerwowe i emocjonalne na smutne bodźce, a wśród dorosłych zmniejsza ryzyko samobójstwa nawet do pięciu lat później. Obecnie jest oceniany jako leczenie nadużywania alkoholu w badaniu klinicznym finansowanym przez NIH. Sugeruje to potencjał w leczeniu NSSI, nadużywania alkoholu, objawów stresu pourazowego (PTSS) i innych zaburzeń rozregulowania emocji. Jak opisano powyżej, przetestujemy skuteczność tVNS w zmianie behawioralnego, emocjonalnego i autonomicznego układu nerwowego w przypadku nadużywania NSSI i alkoholu, ocenimy przestrzeganie i akceptację tVNS wśród nastolatków oraz ustalimy, czy historie maltretowania łagodzą reakcję na leczenie.

- Używałeś alkoholu
- Uczestniczyć w ≥ 3 epizodach NSSI w ciągu ostatnich 6 miesięcy lub ≥ 5 w życiu (1 z tych 5 musi mieć miejsce w ciągu ostatniego roku)
- Posiadanie smartfona (iPhone lub Android)
