El estudio BCPP está diseñado para probar la hipótesis de que la implementación de un paquete mejorado de prevención combinada que incluye la provisión de TAR a todos los participantes, independientemente del recuento de CD4 o la gravedad de la enfermedad del VIH, tendrá un impacto en la epidemia de VIH/SIDA al reducir significativamente el VIH acumulativo a nivel de la población. incidencia en un área geográfica definida durante un período de 3 años y será rentable.

Criterios de inclusión:
- Protocolo n.º 1 - Encuesta de hogares de referencia (BHS): Residente de la comunidad de estudio permanente o de medio tiempo en cualquiera de las 30 comunidades de estudio; ciudadano de Botswana o cónyuge de un ciudadano de Botswana; capaz de dar su consentimiento informado si es mayor de 18 años, o capaz de dar su asentimiento para complementar el permiso de un tutor, si es menor (de 16 o 17 años).
- Protocolo n.º 3: cohorte de tratamiento ampliado: personas infectadas por el VIH en comunidades de prevención combinada que aún no están en TAR y pueden dar su consentimiento informado si tienen ≥18 años, o pueden dar su asentimiento para complementar el permiso de un tutor, si son menores de edad ( 16 o 17 años).
