Het onderzoeksteam is van plan een gerandomiseerde klinische studie uit te voeren met drie armen: (1) gebruikelijke zorg, (2) de eenvoudige herinnering en (3) de eenvoudige herinnering plus het script. Randomisatie zal worden uitgevoerd op het niveau van de arts op elke klinische locatie, om ervoor te zorgen dat alle drie de behandelingsarmen in elke kliniek vertegenwoordigd zijn. Het primaire resultaat, acceptatie van het HPV-vaccin, zal voor elke studiedeelnemer worden beoordeeld.
Deze studie zal worden uitgevoerd via het Child Health Improvement through Computer Automation-systeem (CHICA). CHICA is een computergebaseerd klinisch beslissingsondersteunend systeem dat sinds 2004 in het Wishard/Eskenazi-systeem werkt. CHICA is nu actief in 5 klinieken in het gezondheidssysteem en heeft meer dan 37.000 kinderen geholpen. CHICA ondersteunt primaire pediatrische zorg, ondersteunt screening, counseling, anticiperende begeleiding, vaccinaties en diagnose en beheer van chronische ziekten.
CHICA is in meerdere opzichten uniek. Deze omvatten een unieke op maat gemaakte, scanbare papieren interface, een prioriteitsschema dat ervoor zorgt dat herinneringen met de hoogste prioriteit aan artsen worden gegeven, en de mogelijkheid om rechtstreeks gegevens te verzamelen van families in de wachtkamer. CHICA fungeert als een front-end voor het Regenstrief Medical Record System (RMRS), het elektronische medische dossier voor het Eskenazi-gezondheidssysteem. De RMRS en CHICA communiceren met behulp van industriestandaard HL7-communicatieprotocollen.
Wanneer een patiënt zich aanmeldt bij een CHICA-kliniek, ontvangt CHICA een HL7 ADT-bericht (registratie). Als antwoord vraagt CHICA om een download van het patiëntendossier van de RMRS. CHICA past een reeks Arden Syntax-regels toe op de gegevens van de patiënt om 20 ja/nee-vragen te selecteren die worden afgedrukt. De familie beantwoordt deze vragen door vakjes aan te vinken. De verpleegkundige of medisch assistent vult op hetzelfde formulier lengte, gewicht etc. in en het formulier wordt gescand. De gegevens komen de database van CHICA binnen via optische merkherkenning en optische tekenherkenning. Sinds kort zijn we begonnen met de omschakeling van dit scanbare papieren formaat naar elektronische tablets.

- Alle kinderartsen en verpleegkundig specialisten die zorg verlenen in de 5 CHICA-klinieken zullen in dit onderzoek worden opgenomen
Onderwerp Criteria
- Patiënten zullen 11-17 jaar oud zijn
- Mannen en vrouwen
- Een bezoek aan minimaal één van de vijf CHICA clinics
- Komt in aanmerking voor de 2e of 3e dosis HPV-vaccin
Uitsluitingscriteria:
- Patiënten in de in aanmerking komende leeftijdscategorie die niet zijn begonnen of de HPV-vaccinreeks hebben voltooid, worden uitgesloten
