International Registry of Congenital Portosystemic Shunts (IRCPSS) - Een multicenter, retrospectief en prospectief register van neonaten, kinderen en volwassenen met congenitale portosystemische shunts
Congenitale portosystemische shunt (CPSS) is een zeldzame aandoening die belangrijk is vanwege de veelheid en ernst van de daarmee samenhangende complicaties.
CPSS is een veneuze anomalie waarbij bloed afkomstig uit de darmen slechts gedeeltelijk door de lever stroomt.
Dit leidt tot de accumulatie van potentieel toxische factoren die systemische effecten veroorzaken.
Complicaties variëren per individu, en momenteel is het een uitdaging om te voorspellen welke individuen ernstige complicaties zullen ontwikkelen.
Het IRCPSS-register is opgezet met als doel gedetailleerde klinische follow-up en biologische informatie te centraliseren van deelnemers over de hele wereld die lijden aan Congenitale Portosystemische Shunt (CPSS). Een multidisciplinair consortium van experts werkt samen om ons inzicht in de prevalentie, het natuurlijke beloop, de individuele risico's en de fysiopathologie van de ziekte te vergroten via het IRCPSS-register.

Bestaat uit een spontane, chirurgische of interventionele sluiting van de shunt.
