Szczegółowy opis
Połączenie używania alkoholu i negatywnych stanów emocjonalnych jest szczególnie toksyczną kombinacją ryzyka samobójstwa. Obecne badanie analizuje zmiany w używaniu/nadużywaniu alkoholu/narkotyków i depresji w miarę jak żołnierze przechodzą z czynnej służby do weterana i oferuje spersonalizowaną krótką interwencję internetową mającą na celu zapobieganie/zmniejszanie nadużywania alkoholu i depresji w tej populacji.
Celem badania jest empiryczne określenie ilościowe formy zmian zachodzących w związku z używaniem alkoholu i depresją w okresie przejściowym; zidentyfikować stałe indywidualne czynniki ryzyka (np. osobowość, doświadczenia wojskowe) i dynamiczne czynniki ryzyka (np. zmiany stresorów i kontekstów normatywnych w czasie), które mogą być związane z różnymi czasowymi wzorcami zachowań związanych z samobójstwem (tj. używaniem/nadużyciem alkoholu) ) i funkcje poznawcze (tj. depresja); i wreszcie, aby ustalić, czy pokazana prosta, krótka interwencja dostarczona przez Internet może zmniejszyć ryzykowne zachowania w przechodzącej populacji weteranów.
