Description détaillée
La combinaison de la consommation d'alcool et des états émotionnels négatifs est une combinaison particulièrement toxique pour le risque de suicide. L'étude actuelle examine les changements dans la consommation/l'abus d'alcool/de drogues et la dépression au fur et à mesure que les soldats passent du service actif à l'ancien combattant et propose une brève intervention personnalisée sur Internet destinée à prévenir/réduire l'abus d'alcool et la dépression dans cette population.
Les objectifs de l'étude sont de quantifier empiriquement la forme des changements qui se produisent en ce qui concerne la consommation d'alcool et la dépression au cours de la transition ; identifier les facteurs de risque individuels stables (par exemple, la personnalité, les expériences militaires) et les facteurs de risque dynamiques (par exemple, les changements dans les facteurs de stress et les contextes normatifs au fil du temps) qui peuvent être associés à des schémas temporels différentiels de comportement lié au suicide (par exemple, la consommation/l'abus d'alcool ) et la cognition (c'est-à-dire la dépression); et enfin, pour déterminer si une brève intervention simple, fournie par Internet, peut réduire les comportements à risque chez la population de vétérans en transition.

Les participants affectés à la condition d'intervention seront invités à participer à une intervention sur Internet trois fois au cours de l'étude.

La brève intervention sur Internet développée pour l'étude est accessible via des ordinateurs et des appareils mobiles.
L'intervention utilisera des données d'évaluation pour donner aux participants à l'étude des commentaires sur leur comportement de consommation d'alcool et proposer des stratégies pour éviter les comportements à risque.
