이 연구의 전반적인 목표는 심한 소아 우식증에서 칸디다(특히 C. albicans)의 역할을 더 잘 이해하기 위해 초기 OPC와 S-ECC의 발병 및 중증도의 연관성을 조사하기 위한 종단 관찰 연구를 수행하는 것입니다. 연구자들은 플라크 미생물군을 수정하고 질병의 초기 발달에 도움이 되는 방식으로 독성을 강화함으로써 OPC가 S-ECC와 연관되어 있다는 가설을 시험할 것입니다.
이 연구를 위해 생후 1년 동안 OPC 병력이 있거나 없는 총 60명의 영아(6-15개월)가 포함 및 제외 기준에 따라 등록됩니다. 피험자는 의료 기록에서 검토한 의료/치과 이력을 갖게 됩니다. 각 연구 방문(기준선, 6개월, 12개월, 18개월 및 24개월 후속 조치)에서 보정된 평가자가 연조직 및 우식 검사를 포함한 구강 검사를 수행합니다. 치과 플라크/구강 면봉 샘플은 각 연구 방문 시 수집됩니다. 또한 인구 통계학적 상태, 구강 위생, 식이, 분만, 수유 방법, 현재 복용 중인 약물 등을 종합적으로 조사할 예정이다.

- OPC 이력 유무에 관계없이(연구 팀은 OPC 이력이 있는 참가자 30명과 없는 참가자 30명을 등록합니다)
제외 기준:
- 전신 의학적 상태(예: 다운증후군 등)
- orofacial 기형의 존재
- 충치의 존재
- 기준선 방문 후 30일 이내에 전신 항균 요법 사용
- 조사관의 의견에 따라 프로젝트에 참여하는 것이 개인에게 최선의 이익이 되지 않는 조건의 존재.
