幼少期に逆境にさらされた青少年は、問題のある薬物使用に関与するリスクが高まり、HIV曝露、傷害、運転障害など、さまざまな健康への悪影響をもたらします。 資源が乏しい地域の青少年は、幼少期に有害な経験にさらされる割合が高いことが証明されていますが、科学的根拠に基づいた予防的介入へのアクセスは限られています。 したがって、伝統的にサービスが十分に受けられていないコミュニティにおいて、初期の逆境を物質使用の発症と拡大に結び付ける特定のメカニズムを適切にターゲットにすることができるサービスが非常に必要とされています。

青少年の参加基準:
- 青少年は 12 歳から 14 歳までであり、参加に同意してくれる親/保護者が必要です。
- すべての評価措置を有効に完了し、コンピューターベースのトレーニングに参加するには、青少年は英語に堪能でなければなりません。
- 青少年は、5 ~ 7 週間にわたり、20 ~ 30 分のコンピューターベースのトレーニングを 2 ~ 3 回参加する意欲がなければなりません。
- 青少年は、介入前および介入直後の評価、およびコンピューターセッション終了後の研究者との機密面接に積極的に参加する必要があります。

コンピュータベースの調整額割引タスクは、調整アルゴリズムを使用して、ランダム化された順序で提示される 7 つの個別の期間 (つまり、1 日、1 週間、1 日) によって遅延される多額の金額に相当する、すぐに利用可能な金額を決定します。それぞれの遅延ごとに、最初に、遅延されたより大きな金額とすぐに利用可能なより小さな金額の間で選択肢が提示されます。
