A BDI-II-t a depressziós tünetek súlyosságának felmérésére használták, összhangban a DSM-IV tünetkritériumokkal. A BDI-II egy 21 elemből álló felmérés, minden egyes elemben arra kérik a válaszadókat, hogy egy 0-tól 3-ig terjedő skálán jelezzék, milyen mértékben támogatták a depresszió különböző tüneteit az elmúlt két hétben, magasabb pontszámokkal, amelyek a depresszió súlyosságát jelzik. legmagasabb pontszám 63. 0-10-normálisnak tekinthető 11-16 Enyhe hangulatzavar 17-20 Határvonalbeli klinikai depresszió 21-30 Közepes depresszió 31-40 Súlyos depresszió 40 felett Extrém depresszió. |

A magas pontszámok hatékonyabb támogatást jeleznek.

A magasabb pontszámok nagyobb támogatottságot jeleznek.
Minden egyes időpontban beszámolunk azoknak a személyeknek a számáról és százalékos arányáról, akik magas instrumentális támogatottsággal rendelkeznek.
