介護者 (CG) は、介護者の健康と生活の質 (QOL) の著しい低下につながる重大な心理的および身体的苦痛を経験することがよくあります。 CG の苦痛を軽減することは、CG の心身の健康を改善し、全体的な QOL を改善し、彼らが提供するケアの改善につながる可能性があります。
ただし、広く提供され、簡単に遵守できる効果的な介入はほとんどなく、厳密に評価されています。 気功は、ますます人気が高まっているマルチモーダルな心と体のエクササイズであり、CG に非常に関連する幅広い心理社会的および身体的要因に対処する可能性を示しています。 太極拳と多くの特徴を共有する気功は、ゆっくりとした穏やかな動き、呼吸トレーニング、および身体意識の向上、精神的注意の集中、イメージなどの多数の認知スキルの要素を取り入れています。 グループでの気功と太極拳のトレーニングが、多様な集団の身体的および感情的な健康、QOL、および自己効力感の複数の領域を改善できることは、強力な証拠ベースによって裏付けられています。 注目すべきことに、最近の全国調査では、健康のために気功や太極拳を使用していると報告した米国人口のかなりの割合が、DVD やインターネット リソースからの自主学習を好んだことが示されています。 Web ベースまたは DVD ベースの心と体の実践の学習の可能性を支持する研究はいくつかありますが、そのようなプログラムの評価は、特に CG では十分にテストされていません。

- 参加者は、英語を理解し、話し、読むことができます。
- -参加者は、全米総合がんネットワーク(NCCN)介護者向けの苦痛温度計で最低レベル3を持っています。
- -参加者はインフォームドコンセントを提供できます。
除外基準:
- -参加者は不安定な病気を持っていません(例えば、最近の入院、不安定な心血管疾患、活動中の癌)。
- -参加者に精神障害がない(例:管理されていないうつ病または精神病、薬物乱用、重度の人格障害)
- -参加者は退行性神経筋状態(パーキンソン病、多発性硬化症など)を持っていません。
- 参加者は 15 分間連続して歩くことができません。

さらに、参加者は自宅で気功を 1 日 20 分間、週 3 日練習します。
