Inclusiecriteria:
- Verstrekking van een ondertekend en gedateerd formulier voor geïnformeerde toestemming.
- Verklaarde bereidheid om te voldoen aan alle onderzoeksprocedures en beschikbaarheid voor de duur van het onderzoek.
- Leeftijd 21-90 jaar.
- Symptomatische PAF, ongeacht of de AAD mislukt is of niet.
- Ten minste één symptomatische episode van PAF die <7 dagen duurt, gedocumenteerd op een elektrocardiogram (ECG), Holter-, ZioPatch-, ILR- of smartwatch-opname in het jaar voorafgaand aan de inschrijving.
- Patiënten die voor de eerste keer ablatie ondergaan vanwege AF.
Uitsluitingscriteria:
- Aanhoudende atriale fibrillatie (PeAF) (duur> 7 dagen).
- Atriale aritmieën die secundair zijn aan een verstoring van de elektrolytenbalans, een schildklieraandoening of een andere omkeerbare niet-cardiale oorzaak.
- Eerdere chirurgische of katheterablatie van AF.
- Eerdere klepchirurgie, ventriculotomie, atriotomie of aanwezigheid van een mitralisklepmechanische prothese of bioprothetische klep.
- diameter van het linker atrium anteroposterieur (LA AP) >55 mm of geïndexeerd linker atrium (LA) volume >48 ml/m2.
- Contra-indicaties voor orale of systemische antistolling.
- Eerdere trombo-embolische voorvallen (inclusief ischemische beroertes en TIA) in de afgelopen 3 maanden.
- Eerder myocardinfarct of percutane coronaire interventie in de afgelopen 2 maanden.
- Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)-operatie in de afgelopen 6 maanden (180 dagen).
- Zwangerschap.
- Geschiedenis van PV-stenose.
- Geschiedenis van ernstige pulmonale hypertensie.
- Geschiedenis van diafragmatische parese of hemi-parese.
- Geschiedenis van harttransplantatie.
- Voorgeschiedenis van bloedstollings- of bloedingsafwijkingen.
- Levensverwachting van minder dan 12 maanden.
- Aanwezigheid van intracardiale trombus.
- Complexe aangeboren hartziekte, waaronder tetralogie van Fallot, ventriculaire septumdefecten, de anomalie van Ebstein, systemische rechterventrikel en transpositie van de grote slagaders.
- Intracardiale of vasculaire afwijkingen die adequate katheterintroductie of manipulatie binnen de LA onmogelijk maken.
- Pacingafhankelijke patiënten.
- Actieve maligniteit of voorgeschiedenis van behandelde maligniteit binnen 12 maanden na inschrijving (anders dan cutaan basaalcel- of plaveiselcelcarcinoom).
- Actieve systemische infectie.

Het primaire veiligheidseindpunt is een combinatie van acute proceduregerelateerde complicaties en andere ernstige bijwerkingen binnen de 12 maanden na de ablatieprocedure.
