Il cancro della vescica (BC) è un tumore maligno eterogeneo con esito infausto. Nonostante il trattamento, i tassi di sopravvivenza globale a 5 anni per il MIBC sono <50%, con molti pazienti che non rispondono o sono inadatti, e richiedono biomarcatori per selezionare quelli con maggiori probabilità di rispondere o idonei al trattamento

In questo studio sono state valutate le associazioni tra i geni più frequentemente mutati e con le caratteristiche clinicopatologiche, nonché il significato prognostico della presenza di mutazioni nei geni mutati top mutati e DNA Damage response (DDR) in termini di sopravvivenza globale (OS).
Inoltre, è stata misurata la densità complessiva dei linfociti infiltranti il tumore (TIL), analizzata immunoistochimicamente l'espressione di PD-L1, le quattro proteine MMR (MLH1, MSH2, MSH6 e PMS2) e infiltrati di linfociti T citotossici CD8+ tumorali o stromali e valutata la loro associazione con l'un l'altro, geni top mutati e parametri clinicopatologici disponibili insieme al loro ruolo nella prognosi.

I pazienti sono stati curati nei dipartimenti di oncologia affiliati all'Hellenic Cooperative Oncology Group (HeCOG).
