Onderzoek naar prognostische biomarkers bij patiënten met urotheelcarcinoom behandeld met platinabehandelingen
Blaaskanker (BC) is een heterogene maligniteit met een sombere uitkomst. Ondanks behandeling zijn de 5-jaars totale overlevingspercentages voor MIBC <50%, waarbij veel patiënten niet reageren of onbekwaam zijn, waardoor biomarkers nodig zijn om degenen te selecteren die het meest waarschijnlijk reageren of geschikt zijn voor behandeling

In deze studie werden de associaties tussen de meest frequent gemuteerde genen en met klinisch-pathologische kenmerken beoordeeld, evenals de prognostische betekenis van de aanwezigheid van mutaties in de top gemuteerde en DNA Damage Response (DDR) gemuteerde genen in termen van algehele overleving (OS).
Bovendien werd de totale dichtheid van tumor-infiltrerende lymfocyten (TIL's) gemeten, immunohistochemisch de expressie van PD-L1, de vier MMR-eiwitten (MLH1, MSH2, MSH6 en PMS2) en tumor- of stromale CD8+ cytotoxische T-lymfocytinfiltraten geanalyseerd en hun verband met elkaar, top gemuteerde genen en beschikbare klinisch-pathologische parameters samen met hun rol in de prognose.

Dit is een transnationale analyse met biomonsters van patiënten met urotheelcarcinoom die werden behandeld met platinabehandelingen.
Patiënten zijn behandeld in aan de Hellenic Cooperative Oncology Group (HeCOG) gelieerde oncologische afdelingen.
