Formålet med denne forskningsstudien er å sammenligne effekten av musikk og ulike nivåer av enhetsveiledet pusting på angst og kortpustethet hos lungekreftoverlevere.

MÅL
- Å vurdere gjennomførbarheten (akkumulering, deltakelse, overholdelse, oppbevaring) av en randomisert studie av enhetsveiledet pusting og musikk hos 75 overlevende etter behandling av lungekreft med betydelig angst.
- For å innhente foreløpige data om variabiliteten og effekten av to doser av en enhetsveiledet pusteintervensjon versus en musikkkontrollgruppe for å redusere angst (primært utfall) og for å forbedre selvrapportert dyspné og respirasjonsfunksjon (sekundære utfall) i lunge etter behandling kreftoverlevere.
- For å velge den optimale dosen av enhetsveiledet pusteintervensjon (15 minutter én gang/dag eller to ganger/dag) for påfølgende randomisert studie.

Inklusjonskriterier:
- Tidligere historie om lungekreft
- For stadium I-III sykdom bør pasienter være 2-24 måneder etter fullført operasjon, strålebehandling og/eller kjemoterapi uten ytterligere planlagt behandling i løpet av den 12-ukers studien og ingen tegn på sykdom.
- For sykdom i stadium IV kan det hende at pasienter ikke mottar noen behandling eller får vedlikeholdsbehandling med et målmiddel, kjemoterapi eller immunterapi, forutsatt at den siste avbildningen ikke viser progressiv sykdom.
- Etter å ha fullført alle tre screeningsspørreskjemaene, må deltakeren score tilsvarende på minst ett spørreskjema for å være kvalifisert.
- Villig/i stand til å delta på en kort introduksjonsøkt og bruke tildelt enhet i den tildelte tidsperioden (15 minutter én eller to ganger per dag), minst 5 dager per uke i 12 uker

Ekskluderingskriterier:
- Pasienten forstår ikke engelsk
- Aktiv lungeinfeksjon
- Progressiv kreft (må betraktes som ingen tegn på sykdom eller stabil)
- Enhver endring i psykotrope medisiner de siste 30 dagene
- Hørselstap som ville utelukke deltakelse i intervensjoner. Tilstrekkelig hørsel for å delta vil bli bestemt via: (1) Svar på "nei" på spørsmålet ["Har du et hørselsproblem nå?"] Deltakere med høreapparat vil få lov til å melde seg på så lenge hørselen er tilstrekkelig til å høre lydene på studieapparatene. Om nødvendig vil potensielle studiedeltakere motta en kort testprøve med RESPeRATE-enheten. Hvis de indikerer manglende evne til å høre veiledende toner, vil de ikke bli registrert i studien.
Kortisol utelukkelse
- Deltakere med endokrine lidelser (f.eks. diabetes og skjoldbrusksykdommer) eller på steroidbaserte medisiner ekskluderes fra kortisoldelen av studien (med unntak av aktuell hydrokortison som er tillatt).
