Inleiding: de perifere obstructieve arteriële ziekte is een aandoening die ongeveer 15% van de wereldbevolking treft en interfereert met spierkracht, levenskwaliteit en functionele capaciteit van patiënten.

Beschrijving
Inclusiecriteria:
- Diagnose van PAD en IC.
- Leeftijd van 40 tot 80 jaar.
- Fase I en II van Fontaine.
- Symptomen van claudicatio intermittens gedurende ten minste 3 maanden met brachiale index in rust ≤ 0,90 in 1 of 2 benen
Uitsluitingscriteria:
- Kritieke ischemie in een van de onderste ledematen.
- Matige of ernstige zweren in een van de onderste ledematen. Orthopedische problemen die oefening of evaluatie verhinderen.
- Deelname aan andere onderzoeken met revalidatie.
- Verminderde arteriële hypertensie.
- Gedecompenseerde diabetes

Experimenteel: Elektrische stimulatie
De training met elektrostimulatie wordt uitgevoerd met de volgende intensiteit: Middenfrequentie stroom: 2.500Hz Modulatiefrequentie: tot 50Hz Tijd aan/uit: 1:2 Gemiddelde sessieduur 10 tot 15 min Wordt toegepast in dezelfde spiergroepen die getraind worden in de groep die krachttraining gaat uitvoeren. |

Experimenteel: Krachttraining
Er zullen 10 oefeningen zijn: bovenste ledematen: Liggend met dumbbells; Hoge katroltrekkracht; Afwisselende draad met halters; Triceps-haltertest; Onderste ledematen: knie-extensor, hurken met lichaamsgewicht, plantairflexie, knieflexie en plantair-dorsiflexie.
De sessieduur is 45 minuten tot een uur 2 keer per week, in totaal aan het einde van de 12 weken, 24 krachttrainingsessies.
