Testosteronin fysiologiset ja psykologiset vaikutukset vakavan energiavajeen ja toipumisen aikana: satunnaistettu, lumekontrolloitu koe
Tämän tutkimuksen tavoitteena on selvittää, vähentääkö eugonadaalisen tilan ylläpitäminen vakavan, jatkuvan energiavajeen aikana fysiologisia laskuja, erityisesti vähärasvaisen kehon massan menetystä.

Yksityiskohtainen kuvaus
Tähän tutkimukseen otetaan mukaan jopa 60 fyysisesti aktiivista miestä kolmivaiheiseen satunnaistettuun, lumekontrolloituun tutkimukseen.
14 päivän (vapaa elämä, vaihe 1) jälkeen riittävän energian, ruokavalioon sopeutumisvaiheen (proteiini, 1,6 g∙kg-1∙d-1; rasva 30 % kokonaisenergian saannista, loppuenergia on peräisin hiilihydraateista ), osallistujat satunnaistetaan johonkin kahdesta koeryhmästä, ja he käyvät läpi 28 päivän (sisääntulo, vaihe 2), 55 % energiavajevaiheen: pelkkä energiavaje (DEF) tai energiavaje + eksogeeninen testosteroni (DEF+TEST) .
Toipuminen (vapaa elämä, vaihe 3) arvioidaan vaiheen 2 päätyttyä sen määrittämiseksi, milloin kehon massa on palautunut ± 2,5 %:n sisällä alkuperäisestä kehon massasta (kesto vaihtelee, 42 päivää enintään 3. vaiheessa).
Tämä tutkimus määrittelee testosteronin vähenemisen vaikutuksen fyysisistä ja henkisistä vaatimuksista, joita Warfighters kohtaavat sotilaallisen koulutuksen ja taisteluoperaatioiden aikana monimutkaisten fysiologisen ja psykologisen tilan merkkiaineiden suhteen. Tämä koskee suoraa, johdonmukaisesti havaittua tiedonpuutetta.
