Onderzoek naar geo-roken en neuraal en geospatiaal onderzoek van de blootstelling van rokers aan winkelomgevingen
Het doel van het onderzoek is om meer te weten te komen over de relaties tussen de hersenen, het gedrag en de natuurlijke dagelijkse blootstelling aan bepaalde omgevingen, waaronder de plaatsen waar rokers regelmatig tijd doorbrengen en specifieke winkels.

Individuele deelname aan dit onderzoek vindt plaats gedurende een periode van ongeveer 2 maanden.
Gedurende (ongeveer) 6 weken van de studieperiode wordt de deelnemer gevraagd om zijn geolocatie-informatie te delen, ofwel 3 online sessies te voltooien (voor de subset op afstand, 850796) of 3 persoonlijke bezoeken (waarvan 2 met het maken van fMRI-hersenscans). voor de fMRI-subgroep, 822815), en korte enquêtes en herhaalde taken uitvoeren (bijv. reageren op EMA, gebruik maken van door studie verstrekt geld om kleine aankopen te doen in een gespecificeerde winkelomgeving) in de weken tussen bezoeken.

Deelname Criteria
Onderzoekers zoeken naar mensen die aan een bepaalde beschrijving voldoen, de zogenaamde geschiktheidscriteria. Enkele voorbeelden van deze criteria zijn iemands algemene gezondheidstoestand of eerdere behandelingen.

: Inclusiecriteria
- Tussen de 21 en 65 jaar oud zijn
- Rook de afgelopen 6 maanden minstens 5 sigaretten per dag
- Bezit een iPhone of Android-smartphone die dagelijks kan worden gebruikt
- Plan om de komende 3 maanden in PA, DE of NJ (voor de afgelegen subgroep) of het grootstedelijk gebied van Philadelphia (voor de fMRI-subgroep) te zijn, met uitzondering van korte perioden van afwezigheid (niet langer dan 3 opeenvolgende dagen en geen meer dan 10 dagen in totaal)
- Lees en spreek vloeiend Engels
- Volledig gevaccineerd tegen COVID-19
Exclusiecriteria voor roken
- Huidige inschrijving of plannen om in de komende 3 maanden deel te nemen aan een programma om te stoppen met roken
- Plan om in de komende 3 maanden nicotinevervangers of stoppen met roken-behandelingen te gebruiken
- Urine-cotininetest bij sessie 1 geeft een niet-roker-niveau van cotinine aan
Algemene uitsluitingscriteria
- Zwangerschap
- Weigering om Google Maps of LifeData-applicaties op mobiele telefoon te installeren
- Onvermogen of weigering om Google Timeline-gegevens te uploaden na instructies en begeleiding van een onderzoeker
- Onvermogen om geïnformeerde toestemming te geven of een van de onderzoekstaken uit te voeren zoals bepaald door de hoofdonderzoeker en/of onderzoeksarts.
- Elke fysieke of visuele handicap die het individu kan verhinderen een computertoetsenbord te gebruiken of studietaken uit te voeren.
- Tijdens de eerste twee weken van het onderzoek, het niet voltooien van de studietaken (bijv. antwoord op ten minste 75% van de korte EMA-enquêtevragen).
- De telefoons van potentiële deelnemers worden beoordeeld door getrainde recruiters tijdens persoonlijke werving of tijdens een telefoongesprek dat wordt gebruikt om in aanmerking komende deelnemers uit te nodigen die de online screening-enquête hebben ingevuld voor de eerste afspraak. Wervers zullen met name beoordelen of de functionaliteit van telefoons het gemakkelijk maakt om sms-berichten te ontvangen en te verzenden, het gebruik van de geolocatie-tracking en LifeData-applicaties en of telefoons voldoende batterijduur hebben om deelnemers in staat te stellen aan de studievereisten te voldoen.
Uitsluitingscriteria voor geneesmiddelen en fMRI (82215 - alleen fMRI-subset)
- Momenteel onder behandeling voor middelenmisbruik (bijv. alcohol, opioïden, cocaïne, marihuana of stimulerende middelen)
- Meld het gebruik van een van de volgende drugs in de afgelopen twee weken of geef aan dat u van plan bent dit binnen de komende 6 weken te doen tijdens het eerste wervingsgesprek: Benzodiazepinen, amfetaminen, methamfetaminen, cocaïne, MDMA, methadon, barbituraten, PCP, heroïne, oxycodon, opiaten (bijv. morfine, heroïne), buprenorfine.
- Test positief voor een van de bovenstaande medicijnen bij afspraak 1 Gebruik van psychotrope medicijnen die in de bovenstaande lijst met medicijnen staan binnen 2 weken voorafgaand aan T1 of verwacht gebruik van deze medicijnen in de 6 weken na T1
- Test positief op een van de bovenstaande medicijnen bij afspraak 1
- Schizofrenie of psychose, ongeacht de behandelstatus
- Geschiedenis van een beroerte of andere neurologische aandoening die waarschijnlijk de cognitie beïnvloedt
- Psychiatrische ziekenhuisopname in het afgelopen jaar
- MRI-uitsluitingscriteria
- Neiging om claustrofobie te ervaren
- Ferromagnetisch metaal in het lichaam, inclusief alles wat een metaaldetector kan laten afgaan. Voorbeelden zijn onder meer granaatscherven, metaalspaanders (bijv. van lassen zonder bescherming) of elk implantaat dat kan worden aangetrokken door of kan worden beschadigd door magneten. Tandvullingen zijn over het algemeen acceptabel.
- Metaal in de carrosserie van niet verifieerbare oorsprong
- Niet-verwijderbare piercings
- Niet-verwijderbare beugels of ander tandheelkundig werk dat niet compatibel is met fMRI.

We zullen functioneel een reeks regio's definiëren die reageren op rooksignalen met behulp van de gestandaardiseerde cue-afbeeldingen.
Om deze ROI's vast te stellen, zullen we een t-test uitvoeren in alle voxels in de hersenen om voxels te vinden die significant verschillende activatieniveaus laten zien voor gestandaardiseerde beelden voor roken versus niet-roken voor alle deelnemers.

Beschrijving IPD-plan
- De uiteindelijke dataset zal gegevens bevatten van 180 proefpersonen in PA, NJ of DE (externe subset) of het metrogebied van Philadelphia (fMRI-subset). De gegevens zullen bestaan uit metingen van gezondheidsgedrag (gemeten met behulp van urine-cotininebeoordelingen en vragenlijsten), de geospatiale afstand van individuen tot tabakswinkels in de buurt (gemeten met smartphone-applicaties), en persoonlijkheid en individuele verschillen (vragenlijsten). De fMRI-versie zal ook gegevens bevatten van hersenscans en speekselcotininebeoordelingen.
- De definitieve onderzoeksgegevens, met alle identiteitsgerelateerde informatie verwijderd en in overleg met de relevante IRB's, zullen beschikbaar worden gesteld aan wetenschappers die door het onderzoeksteam zijn goedgekeurd voor gezamenlijk onderzoek met leden van het onderzoeksteam. Gegevens worden gedeeld in spreadsheetformaat voor alle niet-beeldvormende gegevens en in NIFTI-formaat voor fMRI-gegevens. Ongedrempelde statistische kaarten voor de fMRI-gegevens zullen beschikbaar worden gesteld aan onderzoekers via een beveiligde interface voor het delen van bestanden.
IPD-tijdsbestek voor delen
De gegevens zullen beschikbaar zijn binnen zes maanden na publicatie van de primaire resultaten van de studie.
De gegevens blijven minimaal drie jaar na beëindiging van de subsidie beschikbaar.
IPD-toegangscriteria voor delen
- Gegevens zullen beschikbaar worden gesteld aan wetenschappers die door het onderzoeksteam zijn goedgekeurd voor gezamenlijk onderzoek met leden van het onderzoeksteam.
- Gekwalificeerde onderzoekers die toegang willen tot het studiemateriaal kunnen een formulier invullen op de hoofdprojectwebsite op GitHub (https://github.com/cnlab), die het voorgestelde onderzoek beschrijft en de gegevensspecificaties van gegevensgebruik schetst. De verzoeken worden beoordeeld en goedgekeurd door de onderzoekers. De gevraagde onderzoeksdatabestanden gaan vergezeld van een beschrijving van variabelen en hoe deze zijn verzameld. We zullen ook protocollen delen die relevant zijn voor procedures voor gegevensverzameling, indien nuttig en in overleg met andere geïnteresseerde onderzoekers.
- Studietaken en code om analyses te reproduceren zullen beschikbaar worden gesteld op het Falk lab GitHub-account (https://github.com/cnlab)
- Plannen voor statistische analyse zullen beschikbaar zijn in de vorm van preregistraties op de Open Science Framework-site (https://osf.io).
